Camden Armstrong struggled through his worst outing of the season his last time out allowing six runs in six innings in a loss to Liberty High on Saturday.

The Clear Creek Amana senior followed it up with his best performance of the year on Friday.

Armstrong spun a complete game three-hitter to lift Clear Creek Amana to a 2-1 win over Western Dubuque on Friday in the first game of a WAMAC conference cross-divisional doubleheader in Epworth.

Western Dubuque forced a split with an 11-4 win in the nightcap to improve to 17-3 on the season and 12-1 in WAMAC play.

Armstrong improved to 4-2 on the season as Clear Creek Amana moved to 10-12 and 6-10 in conference play.

Clear Creek Amana took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning and broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the sixth.

Mike Upton went 2-for-3 for the Clippers while Casey Ogden was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Armstrong and David Jensen each walked twice and scored a run for the Clippers.

Casey Ogden took the loss in the nightcap allowing 11 runs on 11 hits in three innings.

Cody Ogden went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Camden Smyka had a hit, a run and an RBI.

Regina Snaps Four-Game Losing Skid

Regina followed up a season-long 10-game winning streak with another season-long streak.

That streak ended on Friday.

Class 2A second-ranked Regina snapped a 3-3 tie with two runs in the seventh inning and ended a four-game losing skid with a 5-3 win over Burlington Notre Dame on Friday in Burlington.

It was the first win for Regina since June 12 and improved the Regals to 15-6 on the season.

Burlington Notre Dame dropped to 11-12 with the loss, its second straight following a four-game winning streak.

Jake Phillips picked up the win, allowing just one hit in 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Ryan Schott started and allowed three runs, one earned, on one hit while striking out six and walking seven.

Blake Berns led Regina going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI.

Masen Miller added two hits and scored a run while Trent Hoogerwerf drove in a run and Schott and Evan Suchomel each scored once.
