The 2018 Your Prep Sports girls soccer team recognizes 12 of the top players in the area for their efforts this season.

For the second year in a row the team features state tournament participants, division I recruits, all-state and all-conference players.

The 12-member team features players from six different teams and includes three repeat selections in Regina seniors Lauren Gaarde and Greyson Dumont and City High junior Naomi Meurice.

Gaarde and City High senior Sydney DePrenger are the team captains after leading their respective teams in goals.

Lauren Gaarde (Captain)

Regina, Senior

One of the top offensive players in Class 1A, Gaarde closed her career playing her best soccer scoring five goals in four postseason matches to help Regina reach the state semifinals for the third time in four seasons.

A second team all-state pick as a senior when she scored 17 goals and added four assists, Gaarde scored at least 15 goals each of the last four years and finished her career with 67 goals and 25 assists.

Sydney DePrenger (Captain)

City High, Senior

A Minnesota State recruit DePrenger became the top scoring threat for a City High team that finished 10-7.

DePrenger earned second team Class 3A all-state honors after scoring a team-high eight goals while also leading the Little Hawks with seven assists.

Naomi Meurice

City High, Junior

The Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division keeper of the year and a first-team all-division pick Meurice continued to build upon her reputation as one of the state’s top keepers.

Meurice posted six shutouts and made 111 saves while allowing 19 goals in 17 matches this season.

Madi Barta

Liberty High, Senior

A starter on West High’s state semifinal squad as a junior Barta was the anchor for Liberty High in its first season of varsity competition.

Barta was a Class 1A second-team all-state pick after scoring a team-high seven goals while helping Liberty High win six matches in its debut season.

Carsyn Gallagher

Clear Creek Amana, Sophomore

Gallagher earned first team all WAMAC West Division honors and a reputation as one of the most explosive scoring threats in the conference during a breakthrough sophomore season.

She scored a team-high 17 goals and added six assists for a young Clear Creek Amana team that finished with season 10-9.

Rachel Olson

West High, Junior

One of only a handful of returning starters for the Women of Troy this season Olson tied for the team lead with three goals.

The three goals for Olson accounted for nearly half of the scoring total for West High.

Greyson Dumont

Regina, Senior

A four-year starter, Dumont capped a strong career by being named to the Class 1A all-tournament team after helping Regina to an 11-8 record and a spot in the state semifinals.

A tireless worker from her midfield spot, Dumont had a career-high seven goals and five assists as a senior and finished her career with 13 goals and 16 assists.

Megan Tucker

Solon, Senior

A four-year starter, Tucker has been a stalwart for the Spartans since she stepped on the field as a freshman.

A two-time first-team all-WAMAC East Division pick, Tucker had a career-high three goals and posted a team-high six assists.

Samantha Schroder

City High, Junior

Iowa recruit was the focus for opposing defensive game plans much of the season due to her explosion and playmaking ability.

Despite constant attention from defenders Schroder ranked second on the team with three goals and three assists for a City High squad that advanced to the regional semifinals.

Megan Wick

Regina, Senior

Indian Hills recruit had seven shutouts and made 115 as a senior to help Regina return to the state tournament for the seventh consecutive season.

A three-year starter, Wick allowed a career-low 10 goals this season and didn’t allow more than one goal in any of the Regals’ final eight matches posting a shutout in the regional win.

Amelia Perreira

Clear Creek Amana, Junior

With all the impressive offensive players the Clippers have recently its easy to overlook the work that Perreira has done in the back line the past three seasons.

Already a three-year starter, Perreira was a first-team all-WAMAC West division pick this season after earning second team honors a year ago.

Sydni Von Sprecken

Liberty High, Senior

Von Sprecken teamed with Barta to provide a solid 1-2 scoring punch for Liberty High.

The senior forward ranked second on the team in both goals (6) and assists (3) as the Lightning went 6-12 in it first varsity season.
