Baseball Roundup: Four-run Seventh Inning Lifts Liberty High Past Benton Community

Liberty High scored four runs in the seventh inning to earn a 4-0 win over Benton Community on Tuesday in Van Horne.
Nolan Frey tossed six scoreless innings and Alec Boldt and Isaac Bender drove in runs in the four-run seventh inning as Liberty High improved to 6-12 on the season with its second consecutive win.
Frey struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter while allowing six hits in six innings and Ethan O’Donnell struck out the side in a scoreless seventh to secure the save.
Sam Funke and Boldt opened the seventh inning with back-to-back doubles that broke a scoreless tie.
Liberty High went up 2-0 when Tyler Dahm was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and a two-run single by Bender put the Lightning up 4-0.
Bender, Frey, Keian Secrist, Funke, Boldt and Tyler White all had hits for Liberty High in the win.
Benton Community dropped to 5-14 on the season.
