The Regina win streak was stopped at an even 10.
Monticello snapped a 3-3 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for a 5-3 win over Class 2A second-ranked Regina in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Iowa City.
Regina had a 10-game winning streak end with the loss and dropped to 14-3 on the season and 9-1 in RVC play while Monticello improved to 11-3 and 9-1 in conference contests.
Ryan Schott tossed six strong innings for Regina allowing three runs on three hits and five walks.
Mitch Gahan took the loss giving up two runs on three hits while striking out the side in the seventh inning.
Gahan led the Regina offense going 1-for-1 with an RBI and two walks while Evan Suchomel was 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored.
Trent Hoogerwerf and Schott each added hits for the Regals.
Ryan Manternach earned the win for Monticello allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits in a complete game.
Jacob Manternach went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI and Avery Martensen had two hits and drove in a run.
