Softball Roundup: Regina Sweeps Mid-Prairie in RVC Doubleheader

Regina exploded for 11 runs in the first inning of game one and Katie Bracken tossed 10 scoreless innings as the Regals swept Mid-Prairie in a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader in Kalona on Monday.
Class 2A Seventh-ranked Regina improved to 9-7 on the season and 6-1 in RVC play while Mid-Prairie dropped to 2-11 and 2-7 in RVC play.
Regina raced to an early lead with 11 runs in the opening inning of the doubleheader.
Annie Gahan had two hits and drove in three runs for Regina in the opener while Bracken and Paisley Gardner each had two hits and an RBI.
Carrigan O’Conner had a double, scored two runs and drove in two runs while Jess Hunter had a hit and scored twice.
Bracken allowed one hit and struck out three in a three-inning complete game in the opener.
In the nightcap Bracken allowed just two hits and struck out five in a complete game win.
O’Conner had two hits while Gardner had a hit and drove in two runs in the win. Hunter singled and scored two runs in the win.
