Regina Runs Win Streak to Six With Two Wins in Des Moines

Regina is rolling.
Class 2A third-ranked Regina pushed its winning streak to six with a pair of wins at the Catholic Schools tournament on Saturday at Grand View University in Des Moines.
The Regals have scored double digit runs in four straight games after defeating Algona Garrigan 13-0 and knocking off 2A No. 8 Carroll Kuemper 10-4 to improve to 10-2 on the season.
Jayden Kies tossed a one-hit shutout in the opener against Algona Garrigan and Regina exploded for 11 first-inning runs in the win.
Kies, Mitch Gahan and Masen Miller all had two hits in the win over Algona Garrigan while Blake Bers scored three runs for the Regals.
Gahan had a double and drove in four runs while Miller and Kies each had two RBI.
Kies allowed just a double to Luke Bormann in his first start of the season, striking out five without walking a batter.
Trent Hoogerwerf and Kies each had four hits as Regina hammered out 11 hits in a win over eighth-ranked Carroll Kuemper.
Kies went 4-for-4 while Hoogerwerf was 4-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Regals.
Ryne Schooley went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Alex Meister earned the win allowing two runs on three hits in three innings and Ryan Schott worked four strong innings of relief.
