Baseball Roundup: Liberty High Stays Hot With Sweep of Tipton

The momentum continues to build for the Liberty High baseball team.
After picking up the first win in program history Tuesday Liberty High picked up its second straight sweep on Friday with 9-8 and 13-3 wins over Tipton at Duane Banks Field in Iowa City.
Liberty High built a 9-1 lead in the opener and held on for a 9-8 win and then rolled to a 13-3 five-inning win in the nightcap to improve to 4-8 on the season with its fourth win in five games.
Tipton dropped to 5-4 with its fourth consecutive loss.
Nolan Frey went 3-for-4 and scored two runs to lead a 12-hit Liberty High attack in the opener.
Tyler Dahm had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run in the opener and Keian Secrist was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBI.
Zach Anderson earned the win in game one allowing five runs on seven hits in four innings.
Secrist worked a hitless seventh inning striking out two to collect the save.
In the nightcap Ethan O’Donnell earned the win allow two runs on two hits in three innings.
Dahm, Sam Funke, Alec Boldt, Max Tafolla, Cayden Duhaime and Isaac Bender all had two hits in the game-two win.
Funke drove in four runs while Secrist and Boldt each had two RBI in the win while Tafolla, Frey, Bender and Dahm all scored twice.
