No. 8 Regina (9-7) vs. Cedar Valley Christian (14-4)
When: Monday, 6 p.m.
Where: Regal Field in Iowa City
Player to Watch: Senior Lauren Gaarde is responsible for nearly half of the Regina goal total this season with a team-best 14 goals. She has also added four assists for the Regals.
Breakdown: Regina is seeking a seventh consecutive state tournament appearance and has home field advantage on its side.
The Regals are 5-3 at home this season with all three losses coming to ranked opponents.
Over the course of the season losses to ranked in-state opponents have accounted for six of the seven blemishes on the Regina record including one-goal setbacks to 1A No. 1 Davenport Assumption and third-ranked Nevada.
The key for Regina has been scoring multiple goals. The Regals are 6-0 when they score more than once in a match and are just 3-7 when scoring fewer than two goals.
For Regina to get its offense going it will look to seniors Lauren Gaarde and Greyson Dumont.
Gaarde had two of her team-high 14 goals in a 5-0 Regional semifinal win over Williamsburg on Friday and Dumont had a goal and a season-high three assists from her midfield spot.
Cedar Valley Christian opened the season with 11 consecutive wins but lost its next four matches.
CVC has rebounded to win three consecutive matches including back-to-back one-goal regional wins over Anamosa (4-3) and Liberty High (3-2).
Senior Elisabeth Fields leads Cedar Valley Christian with 15 goals while fellow senior Emma Slagle has five goals and a team-high12 assists.
