Regina took control of the River Valley South Division race and set a message to the rest of teams in Class 2A all in the span of a few hours on Monday night.

Class 2A third-ranked Regina swept top-ranked Wilton in an RVC doubleheader on Monday in Wilton winning the opener 4-0 and taking the nightcap 8-4.

Regina improved to 6-2 with the sweep and moved to 4-0 in RVC play while Wilton dropped to 6-2 on the year and 4-2 in RVC play.

Mitch Gahan tossed a complete game two-hitter to earn the win in game one, striking out nine and walking one.

Ryne Schooley and Ryan Schott each homered in the opener to provide all the offense Gahan would need.

Schooley and Schott each finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

Schott picked up the win in game two allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out nine.

Evan Suchomel led the Regina offense going 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI in the nightcap.

Jayden Kies had a pair of hits and scored twice in game two while Masen Miller went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

City High Powers Past Waterloo East

It took eight games for City High to rev up its offense.

The Little Hawks appeared to be hitting on all cylinders on Monday.

City High had eight extra-base hits among its 18 total hits while scoring 26 runs in just 10 innings in a doubleheader sweep of Waterloo East in a Mississippi Valley Conference matchup at Mercer Park in Iowa City.

The Little Hawks won the opener 11-1 in six innings and took the nightcap 15-2 in five innings and have now scored double digit runs in three consecutive games.

City High improved to 7-4 on the season and 4-2 in MVC play while Waterloo East dropped to 1-12 on the year and 0-6 in conference contests.

Zach Kuepker went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs and three RBI in the opener to lead the City High attack.

Liam McComas homered and drove in two runs while Sam Lewers had a double, scored twice and drove in a run.

Tanner Slauson had a hit and drove in two runs while JD Alberhasky doubles and drove in a run.

Brady Herzic picked up the win in the opener allowing one run on two hits while striking out five and walking three in five innings.

In the nightcap Travis Reyhons went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and four RBI.

Ben Parker had a pair of hits including a double and drove in two runs and scored twice.

McComas had a hit and two RBI while Kuepker doubles and drove in run.

Ry Threlkeld-Wiegand allowed one hit and struck out six in three innings to earn the win.

Bollers Walk-off Triple Lifts CCA to Sweep of Williamsburg

As a starter as an eighth-grader Clear Creek Amana freshman TJ Bollers already has plenty of hits under in his varsity career.

The biggest hit for Bollers may have come on Monday.

Bollers ripped a one-out, two -run triple to lift Clear Creek Amana to a 5-4 win in game two of a WAMAC doubleheader with rival Williamsburg in Tiffin.

The win completed the doubleheader sweep for Clear Creek Amana after the Clippers stopped a five-game losing skid with an 8-4 win in the opener.

Clear Creek Amana improved to 5-7 on the season with the sweep and moved to 2-6 in WAMAC play while Williamsburg dropped to 1-11 and 1-7 in conference contests.

Clear Creek Amana scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed in the opener.

Cody Ogden and Casey Ogden each had a hit, scored twice and drove in a run in the win while Camden Armstrong had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.

Bollers and Jordan Wolfe each had a hit and an RBI in the opener.

Armstrong earned the win allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits while striking out eight in the complete game.

The Clippers trailed 4-3 entering the seventh inning of game two but Bollers secured the win with a walk-off two-run triple.

Ogden led the offensive attack in game two going 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Grant Jensen earned the win striking out two in a scoreless inning of relief of Ogden who allowed four runs on four hits while striking out nine in six innings.

West High Earns Split with CR Xavier

Class 4A ninth-ranked West High split a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with Cedar Rapids Xavier on Monday in Cedar Rapids dropping the opener 8-6 and winning the nightcap 4-3.

West High moved to 9-4 on the season and 4-2 in MVC play while Cedar Rapids Xavier is now 6-4 on the year and 4-2 in conference play.

Xavier rallied from an early 4-0 deficit with five runs in the third and three more in the fourth in an 8-6 win in game one.

Austin West took the loss for West High allowing three runs on four hits in three innings.

Lucas Karwal went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored to lead West High while Ryan Cooper had a hit and drove in three runs.

Jason Strunk, Nick Fleckenstein and Nick Biancuzzo each had a hit and scored a run.

West High scored three runs in the third and never trailed again in a 4-3 win in the nightcap.

Strunk homered and scored twice in the win while Owen McAreavy and Braden Houston each had two hits.

Chase Calderwood, Alex Granner and Alex Schwickerath each had a hit and drove in a run for West High.

Tyler Stern earned the win for West High allowing two runs on five hits while fanning eight in four innings.

Solon Splits at West Delaware

Class 3A sixth-ranked Solon split a WAMAC doubleheader with West Delaware on Monday in Manchester winning the opener 12-2 and dropping the nightcap 5-4.

Solon moved to 9-3 on the season and 6-2 in WAMAC play while West Delaware is now 5-2 on the year and 5-1 in conference contests.

Cam Miller tossed a complete-game three-hitter to earn the win in game one, allowing two runs while striking out two and walking five.

Payton Bandy and Zach Wegmann each homered and combined to drive in seven runs to lead Solon.

Bandy was 1-for-3 with four RBI and Wegmann finished 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.

Luke Ira and Kendrick Harris each went 2-for-3. Ira scored three runs and Harris doubled and scored twice.

West Delaware snapped a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning to salvage a split with a 5-4 win in game two.

Ira went 2-for-4 and scored two runs in the night cap while Harris and Tyler Linderbaum each had a hit and scored a run.

Ira took the loss allowing five runs, four earned, on nine hits while striking out 11 and walking one in a complete game.
