Softball Roundup: City High Sweeps CR Washington to Remain Unbeaten

The impressive start to the season for City High continued on Thursday.
Class 5A No. 13 City High improved to 4-0 on the season with a pair of 15-0 wins in a doubleheader sweep of Cedar Rapids Washington in Cedar Rapids.
Ayana Lindsey and Ella Cook combined to allow one hit in eight innings and City High scored in every inning but one while staying unbeaten on the season.
Lindsey tossed a five-inning no-hitter in game one and Sydney Fellows provided the offense, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and a triple.
Fellows scored three runs and drove in six in the opener.
Carey Koenig went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI while Ella Cook had a double and scored twice.
Cook allowed just one hit in three innings in the nightcap and scored three runs.
Lindsey had a triple and scored three runs, Georgia Kimm scored twice and Koenig had a hit and scored twice.
Fellows tripled and drove in two runs, Kelli Potter went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Briana Bentler went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Regina Drops Opener to Top-Ranked Davenport Assumption
Class 2A seventh-ranked Regina opened the season with a 6-0 loss at 3A top-ranked Davenport Assumption (3-0) on Thursday.
Emily Bonnett had a double for the lone Regina hit off Assumption senior Hannah Kelly.
Regina returns to action on Saturday with a pair of games at the Cedar Rapids Jefferson tournament.
