Girls Track Roundup: Bell Wins Three Events as West High Claims Team Title at New Hampton

With inclement weather wiping out track meets across the state over the last three weeks West High wasn’t about to let a rare warm and sunny day go unused.
West High was a late add to the field at the New Hampton Chickasaw Invite on Thursday and made the most of both the weather and the chance to compete.
The Women of Troy won seven events and added 10 runner-up finishes while rolling to the team title at the nine-team meet.
West High rolled up 196.5 points to outdistance runner-up Sumner-Fredericksburg by 70.5 points.Kitra Bell won two individu
al titles, added a runner-up finish and ran on the winning West High shuttle hurdle relay team.
Bell won the 100 hurdles in 15.95 and the long jump with a season-best leap of 18-1 and also finished runner-up in the 400 hurdles in 1:10.14.
She anchored the West High shuttle hurdle relay team to a win in 1:08.38.
West High finished first and second in both the 800 and 3,000.
Bailey Nock won the 800 in 2:17.32 while teammate Deniz Ince was second in 2:18.11.
Madeline Negley took the 3,000 in 11:44.58 followed by teammate Anna Moore in 11:45.58.
West High won the 4×800 in 9:32.78 and Chandler Haight won the shot put with a throw of 42-4.

Clear Creek Amana 8th at Tigerrette Relays
Clear Creek Amana finished eighth and Regina was 12th at the 15-team Tigerrette Relays on Thursday in Tipton.
North Cedar won the team title with 120 points and Mid-Prairie finished second with 72.
Clear Creek Amana was eighth with 24 points and Regina collected 17 points to finish in a tie with West Liberty for 12th.
Ainsley Schrock and Kaylie Barker each posted runner-up finishes to lead the Clippers.
Schrock was second in the discus with a toss of 116-4 while Barker was second in the 3,000 in 12:03.96.
Annie Gahan led Regina with a runner-up finish in the 400 in 1:05.05 while Jaedynn Evans was third in the 100 in 13.52.
