Weather cancellations forced Regina to wait a little longer to make it season opener but didn’t stop the Regals from being ready on opening night.

Class 1A top-ranked Regina opened the season with a 3-0 win over Davenport Central on Wednesday at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport.

Nick Pechous scored a pair of goals and freshman Alec Wick added a goal in his varsity debut as Regina won its eighth straight match dating back to last season.

Davenport Central dropped to 5-4 and had a two-match winning streak snapped with the loss.
