Boys Basketball Roundup: West Branch Closes RVC Play With Win at Durant

Beau Cornwell led three players in double figures with a game-high 30 points as West Branch downed Durant 72-60 on Tuesday in its River Valley Conference finale in Durant.
Tanner Lukavsky added 15 points and Ben Thompson had 14 as West Branch improved to 12-8 on the season and finished 10-8 in RVC play.
Brady Lukavsky added eight points and took two charges to set a new single-season school record.
West Branch has won five of its last six games entering its regular season finale on Thursday at Clear Creek Amana.
Durant dropped to 12-9 on the season and 9-8 in RVC play.
City High Can’t Hang On Against Cedar Rapids Washington
City High let a halftime lead slip away in a 63-59 loss to Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference matchup in Iowa City on Tuesday.
The Little Hawks led 29-23 but couldn’t hang on to complete the season sweep of the Warriors.
Campbell Mitvalsky had 14 of his team-high 16 points in the second half as Cedar Rapids Washington improved to 8-10 on the season and 5-9 in MVC play.
Keshawn Christian had a game-high 23 to lead City High which dropped to 5-13 and 3-10 in conference play.
Ry Threlkeld-Weigand had 14 points and Antonio Turner added 12 for the Little Hawks.
