Mount Vernon at Solon

Any time these two WAMAC East Division rivals get together anything can happen.

That was the case in the first meeting this season when Mount Vernon scored on a putback at the buzzer to escape with a 63-61 win in Mount Vernon.

Solon will try to get a measure of revenge against its Highway 1 rival on Tuesday.

The Spartans have won three of its last four include an overtime win over Maquoketa on Friday.

Mount Vernon has lost five of seven since its win over the Spartans on January 12 but is coming off a 56-50 win over Central DeWitt on Friday.

Other Games to Watch

West Branch at Clear Creek Amana: The Clippers have won five of seven and will try to keep that hot streak going on Thursday in a non-conference test against the Bears.

Regina at Benton Community: Third game in four-day, three-game stretch for Regina comes Friday against Class 3A opponent Benton Community.

West High at Waterloo West: West High has lost two of three but will try to get back on track in a week that features back-to-back road games capped by a Friday trip to Waterloo.

Player to Watch

Carondis Harris-Anderson, Sr., Waterloo West

Harris-Anderson has emerged as one of the top scorers in the state this season, ranking 14th in the state and sixth in Class 4A with 23.1 points per game.

The 6-foot-3 Harris-Anderson had 50 points in a win over Waterloo East earlier and has scored 20 or more in 12 games this season.

Harris-Anderson also averages a team-high 7.5 rebounds and is third on the team with 37 assists.

Who’s Hot

Darius Moore, Sr., Clear Creek Amana

There is hot and then there is what Darius Moore has been over the last three games.

Moore has scored at least 25 points in three straight game, a stretch that started with a school-record 41 points in a win over Williamsburg.

The senior guard followed up that performance with 28 and 25-point performances.

In addition to averaging 31.3 points over the last three games Moore is adding eight rebounds and a four assists per outing.
