Regina senior Ryan Schott took the first step toward his first state medal on Saturday.

Schott pinned his way to the 160-pound title at the Class 1A, Sectional 15 meet on Saturday in Lisbon headlining a list of three Regina wrestlers that advanced to districts.

Junior Nick Milder and sophomore Rowan Udell each earned runner-up finishes to advance to districts while helping Regina to a third-place team finish on Saturday with 116 points.

Second-ranked Schott record a pair of second-period falls, including one of Dan Burton of Highland in the 160-pound title match to secure a spot at the Class 1A, District 8 meet next Saturday in Wilton.

Schott improved to 43-1 on the season and will bring a 19-match winning streak into district competition.

Milder (25-3) fell to third-ranked Bryce Werderman (41-5) of Lisbon 5-3 in sudden victory in the 170-pound title match.

It was the third postseason loss for Milder against Werderman the past two seasons.

Udell dropped a 6-3 decision to ninth-ranked Jake Jennett of Lisbon in the 195-pound title match.

West Branch had a pair of district qualifiers led by 106-pound junior Tyler Siemen (23-19) who defeated Bryce Thompson of Lone Tree 6-1 to win the 106-pound title.

Senior heavyweight Jacob Barnhart advanced to the district meet with a runner-up finish.

Barnhart (19-16) was pinned by Chase Gallagher of North Cedar in the 285-pound championship match.
