West Branch at 2A No. 7 Regina

Two of the hottest teams in 2A meet on Tuesday when River Valley Conference rivals Regina and West Branch meet for the second time this season.

West Branch has won 10 of 11 games since a 53-36 loss to Regina on December 15 and brings a five-game winning streak into Tuesday’s rematch.

Regina has won eight of nine and three straight since a 75-61 loss to Class 5A top-ranked City High on January 20.

West Branch senior Tatum Koenig is averaging 21.7 points per game and has scored 21 or more in each of the last four games.

Regina was without Mary Crompton when the two teams met in West Branch earlier this season.

The senior guard is averaging 17.6 points in nine games this season.

City High at Moline (Illinois): Perhaps the greatest threat standing between the Little Hawks and an unbeaten regular season is a non-conference trip across the Mississippi on Saturday.

Camanche at Regina: Sandwiched between a rivalry game with West Branch on Tuesday and a trip to 5A Cedar Rapids Kennedy on Saturday is a trick home contest with 3A No. 11 Camanche on Friday.

Williamsburg at Clear Creek Amana: Long-time rivals hook up for the second time on Tuesday in Tiffin. The Clippers won the first meeting 49-29 last month.

Player to Watch

Marly Bussa, Sr., Camanche

Bussa has the green light from anywhere on the court and the senior guard hasn’t been shy about taking advantage.

The 153 3-point attempts for Bussa is the ninth most in the state this season and she has hit 58 on her way to averaging a team-high 15.1 points per game.

Bussa, a 5-foot-7 senior, also leads the Indians with 63 steals.

Who’s Hot

Alex Wiese, Jr., Regina

Wiese had her best game of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to City High and hasn’t slowed down since.

The 5-foot-11 junior has posted double-doubles in four of her last five games and is averaging 17 points and 10.7 rebounds per game during the Regals’ current three-game winning streak.

Wiese is coming off a 24-point, 15-rebound, 3-block performance in a 62-49 win over Wilton.
