Regina at 2A No. 9 Northeast

The lone River Valley Conference loss this season for Regina (10-3, 10-1) came last month to North Division leader and fourth-ranked Cascade.

Regina will take its shot against another ranked North Division foe when it travels to No. 9 Northeast (14-1) on Friday.

Northeast has won four straight since its only loss of the season, a 58-55 setback at Cascade on January 9.

Regina has won back-to-back games following a six-point loss to Solon on January 13.

Other Games to Watch

City High at West High: The second cross-town meeting of the season is Tuesday at West High after the Trojans won the first meeting 75-48 at City High.

Dyersville Beckman at Solon: Solon gets a rematch with Beckman after dropping the first meeting to the Blazers 70-60 last month in Dyersville  

Liberty High at City High: The first ever meeting for Liberty High with an Iowa City team comes on Saturday at City High.

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Jr. Bishop Miege (Kansas)

West High’s third game of the season against an out of state foe is a matchup with Bishop Miege (Kansas) and its standout forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.

Robinson-Earl is ranked the 36th junior in the country by ESPN and has led two-time defending state champion Bishop Miege to an 8-1 start this season.

The 6-foot-9 Robinson-Earl holds offers from Kansas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Iowa among others.

AJ Coons, Soph., Solon

As the schedule picked up for Solon sophomore AJ Coobs picked up game.

Coons scored in double in the final four games of the Spartans’ stretch of five games in eight days that ended with back-to-back losses in a span of 14 hours.

The 6-foot-3 Coons averaged 20 points and 7.3 rebounds per game over the last four games, including a career-high 33 points against Western Dubuque.

Coons is averaging 16.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game on the season.
