West High couldn’t hold on to a two-point halftime lead in a back and forth matchup of ranked teams on Saturday in West Des Moines.

Class 5A No. 15 West Des Moines Valley outscored third-ranked West High 19-9 in the third quarter on its way to a 66-59 win over the Women of Troy in a non-conference contest.

Shea Fuller had a game-high 23 points and Zoe Young added 21 as West Des Moines Valley (8-9) won for the third time in four games.

Emma Koch had 15 points and Lauren Zacharias had 10 points for West High which dropped to 11-4 on the season with its second loss in three games.

Rachael Saunders had nine points and Logan Cook and Audrey Koch eight each for West High.

Cascade Too Much for Liberty High

Class 2A sixth-ranked Cascade bolted to a 34-13 halftime lead on its way to a 60-33 win over Liberty High on Saturday in Cascade.

The loss was the fifth straight for Liberty High which dropped to 5-10 on the season while Cascade improved to 15-3.

Kaylia Baldwin led Liberty High with eight points and Isabel Smith added seven for the Lightning.
