Boys Basketball Roundup: Spartans Use Balance Scoring to Down DeWitt Central

Balanced scoring helped Solon start a busy week with a WAMAC road win on Tuesday.
Solon had three players score in double figures in a 56-43 win over Central DeWitt in a WAMAC East Division matchup in DeWitt.
Ben Krutzfeldt had a game-high 15 points and AJ Coons and Cam Miller each added 14 as Solon improved to 9-4 on the season and 5-3 in WAMAC East play.
Luke Schaeckenbach added seven points for the Spartans which host East Division leader Western Dubuque on Friday and play two-time defending 3A state champion Cedar Rapids Xavier on Saturday.
Alex McAleer had 13 points and BJ Frick had 10 points to lead Central DeWitt which dropped to 3-8 and 1-7 in WAMAC East play.

Tigers Trip Bears in Tipton
West Branch couldn’t make an early lead stand up in a 57-44 loss to Tipton in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in Tipton.
The Bears led 12-4 after the opening quarter but Tipton roared back with an 18-point second-quarter to complete the season sweep of West Branch.
Beau Cornwell had a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as West Branch shot 24 percent from the floor.
West Branch dropped to 7-7 on the season and 6-7 in RVC play while Tipton improved to 11-5 Tanner Lukavsky was the only other West Branch player with more than three points, finishing with seven points and nine rebounds.
Andrew Stewart had 23 points to lead Tipton and Logan Hoffman had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Regina Bounces Back at Mid-Prairie
Regina bounced back from a non-conference loss on Saturday with a 67-42 win over Mid-Prairie on Tuesday in a River Valley Conference contest in Wellman.
Jake Phillips led Regina with 16 points and Masen Miller added 12 as the Regals improved to 9-3 on the season and 9-1 in RVC play.
Even Brauns had nine points, four rebounds and blocked seven shots for Regina while Jocoa Kerschen added seven points.
Mid-Prairie dropped to 2-12 and 2-11 in RVC play with its eighth straight loss.
