Wrestling Roundup: Linderbaum Wins Title at Ed Hadenfeldt Invitational

Last weekend Tyler Linderbaum was playing football, competing in the prestigious US Army All-American game in San Antonio, Texas.
On Saturday Linderbaum was back to wrestling and back to winning.
Linderbaum won the 285-pound title at the Ed Hadenfeldt Invitational on Saturday helping Solon to a runner-up team finish at its home tournament.
Solon got runner-up finishes from Zach Wegmann and Mike Hoyle and had three wrestlers place third on Saturday while finishing with 194 points.
Class 1A second-ranked Lisbon won the team title with 211.5 points while 2A No. 2 West Liberty was third with 189 points.
Clear Creek Amana finished sixth with 99.5 points and was led by Samual Stevens who won the title at 113 pounds while West Branch was 12th with 37 points.
Linderbaum went 3-0 with a pair of pins on his way to the 285-pound championship on Saturday improving his season record to a perfect 17-0.
The senior heavyweight earned an 11-2 decision over Andy Lopez in the title match.
Wegmann (22-7) was pinned by Logan O’Connor of Lisbon in the 220-pound title match while Hoyle (25-5) dropped a 9-1 major decision to 1A second-ranked Garet Sims of Iowa Valley in the championship at 182 pounds.
Christian Haight (132), Zach Bevans (152) and Jax Flynn (160) all added third-place finishes for Solon.
Stevens won a 17-6 major decision over Keegan Scheeler of Center Point-Urbana to claim the 113-pound champions.
Stevens was 3-0 on Saturday to improve to 20-9 on the season.
Andrew Rohret (145), Nick Collins (182), Spencer Beltz (195) and Tanner Cochran (220) all finished fourth for Clear Creek Amana.

City High Wins Big Red Wrestling Invite
Add another to list of accomplishments for the surging City High wrestling team.
City High won the Centerville Big Red Wrestling Invite for the first time on Saturday outdistancing runner-up PCM by more than 50 points.
Joey Harney and Jacob Dykes each won individual titles and Lance Bormann and Kyle Hefley added runner-up finishes as Class 3A seventh-ranked City High finished with 229.5 points.
2A No. 9 PCM was second with 174 followed by 2A No. 10 Centerville and Creston Orient-Macskburg.
Harney improved to 27-3 on the season on his way to the 138-pound title on Saturday while Dykes remained unbeaten on the year at 24-0 while capturing the 195-pound championship.
Hefley (24-1) finished runner-up at 152 while Bormann (24-4) was second at 132 pounds.
Ethan Wood-Finley (106), Michael Santoro (120), Reece Caven (126) and Jacob Murry (285) all added third-place finishes.

Brands Wins Title at Midwest Shootout
Nelson Brands won the 160-pound title to help West High to a ninth-place team finish at the 16-team, two-day Bettendorf Midwest Shootout in Bettendorf.
Brands ran his season record to 36-1, earning a 8-5 decision over Allen Swanson of Oswego in the 160-pound championship match.
Sophomore Will Hoeft added a runner-up finish at 182 pounds as West High finished with 116.5 points.
Class 3A third-ranked Waukee won the title with 289 points followed by sixth-ranked Johnston with 253.5 points and No. 8 Waverly-Shell Rock with 190.5.
Hoeft (31-10) was pinned by 2A top-ranked Julie Broderson in the 182 pound title match.
Ashton Stumpf added a third-place finish at 170 pounds for West High and Guy Snow placed fourth at 285 pounds.

Schott Wins Title to Least Regia Cascade Invitational
There have been plenty of big wins among the more than 100 career victories for Regina senior Ryan Schott.
The most recent victory for Schott ranks among the best.
Schott edged Class 2A top-ranked Luke Hageman 3-1 in sudden victory on Saturday in the 160-pound finals at the Cascade Invitational.
The loss was the first of the season for Hageman (23-1) while 1A seventh-ranked Schott improved to 30-1 with his 3-0 performance on Saturday.
Nick Milder added a runner-up finish at 170 pounds as Regina finished 12th with 59 points.
Milder (13-2) dropped a 7-1 decision to 2A top-ranked Kolton Bartow (24-2) of Dubuque Wahlert in the title match.
Henry May added a fourth-place finish for Regina at 120 pounds.

Liberty Has Two Runner-up Finishes at ADM Tiger Invitational
Jackson Brennan and Drew Snyder each earned runner-up finishes to lead Liberty High at the ADM Tiger Invitational on Saturday in Adel.
Brennan was second at 120 pounds and Snyder finished second at 145 pounds the Lightning placed 10th with 54 points.
Kaleb Williams added a third-place finish at 138 pounds for Liberty High.
