Girls Basketball Roundup: West Branch Completes Season Sweep of Mid-Prairie

It wasn’t the way that Jarod Tylee imagined it going but the West Branch coach will certainly take it.
West Branch saw a 17-3 lead evaporate but rallied for a 33-22 win over Mid-Prairie in a wild River Valley Conference South Division contest in Wellman.
Freshman Sasha Koenig had 13 points, four rebounds and two steals as West Branch improved to 9-5 on the season and 8-5 in RVC while completing the season sweep of Mid-Prairie.
Mid-Prairie had a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss, falling to 9-3 on the season and 8-3 in RVC play.
West Branch opened the game with a 17-3 run but Mid-Prairie followed with a 17-2 stretch of its own that gave the Golden Hawks a 20-19 lead.
The Bears scored the next nine points to regain the lead and never gave it up.
Tatum Koenig had five points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals and Mackenzie Heise had five points and seven rebounds.
Waverly-Shell Rock Drops Liberty High
Liberty High couldn’t overcome a nine-point first quarter deficit falling to Waverly-Shell Rock 52-32 on Friday in Waverly.
Jenna Saunders led Liberty High with eight points while Megan Davis added six and Sam McPherson five for the Lightning.
Liberty High dropped to 5-8 with the loss while Waverly-Shell Rock moved to 9-4.

CCA Winning Streak Ends With Loss to Top-Ranked Marion
Clear Creek Amana had its six-game winning streak come to a halt on Friday with a 87-32 loss to Class 4A top-ranked Marion in Tiffin.
Marion improved to 13-0 with the win while CCA dropped to 7-5.
