Boys Basketball Roundup: City High Rallies For Win at Cedar Rapids Washington

This time City High found a way to finish late.
After letting second-half leads slip away in back-to-back losses City High rallied from a one-point halftime deficit to down Cedar Rapids Washington 61-55 in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division matchup in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.
Antonio Turner scored 11 of his game-high points in the second half and Carter Westlake had all 11 of his points after halftime to help City High outscore the Warriors 35-28 in the final two quarters.
Jeremy Kambomba and Ry Threlkeld-Weigand each had nine points and DeAngelo McNeil added eight as the Little Hawks snapped a three-game losing skid.
City High improved to 3-6 on the season and 2-4 in MVC play.
Campbell Mitvalsky led Cedar Rapids Washington with 13 points as the Warriors dropped to 3-6 and 1-5 in MVC play.

Solon Bounces Back With Win at Maquoketa
AJ Coons poured in a game-high 21 points and Ben Krutzfeldt added 18 as Solon bounced back from a loss to Benton Community with a 61-54 win over Maquoketa on Tuesday.
Solon improved to 7-3 on the season and 4-2 in WAMAC East Division play with the win while Maquoketa dropped to 4-7.
Cam Miller had nine points and Luke Ira added seven for Solon.
Abe Becker had 18 points and Macklin Shanahan had 16 to lead Maquoketa.

Fourth-Ranked Mount Pleasant Too Much for Liberty High
Liberty High was up to the task early but couldn’t pull the upset falling to Class 3A seventh-ranked Mount Pleasant 76-51 on Tuesday in North Liberty.
The Lightning trailed just 19-16 after the opening quarter but Mount Pleasant used a 22-point second quarter to build a 41-27 halftime lead.
Liberty High had a two-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 5-7 on the season while Mount Pleasant improved to 9-2 with its sixth straight win.
Andre Brandon led Liberty High with 15 points while Sam Funke added 10 and Iziah Poulsen had nine.
Brady Sartorius had a game-high 26 and Jordan Magnani added 22 points for Mount Pleasant.

Independence Rallies Past CCA
Independence outscored Clear Creek Amana 22-9 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 72-66 win in a WAMAC West Division matchup on Tuesday in Tiffin.
Clear Creek Amana trailed 33-27 at the half but used a 30-point third quarter to take a 57-50 entering the final quarter.
Darius Moore had a team-high 17 points while Nolan Schwarting added 16 for Clear Creek Amana.
Camden Armstrong had eight points as Clear Creek Amana dropped to 2-8 on the season.
Independence improved to 8-3 with the win.

West Branch Rolls Past Wilton
West Branch cruised to a 78-36 win over Wilton in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in Wilton on Tuesday.
The Bears improved to 6-6 on the season and 5-6 in RVC play while Wilton dropped to 1-12 and 0-10 in conference play.

Regina Rebounds With Road Win at Durant
Regina rebounded from a loss to two-time Class 3A champion Cedar Rapids Xavier with a 65-47 win over Durant (8-5) in a River Valley Conference South Division contest on Tuesday in Durant.
The Regals shot 61 percent from the field while improving to 8-2 on the season and 8-1 in RVC play.
Even Brauns led Regina with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks while Masen Miller added 14 points for the Regals.
Jocoa Kerschen had eight points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win.
