The first of two regular season meetings between cross-town rivals comes on Tuesday as part of a boys/girls varsity doubleheader at City High.

West High won both meetings between the two teams last year by an average of 47.5 points including an 82-38 win at City High.

The Little Hawks are coming off the biggest win for the program since a 63-53 win over West High in 2016.

Other Games to Watch

Regina at West Branch: Long-time rivals meet on Friday in a key early season River Valley Conference South Division showdown.

Solon at Dyersville Beckman: The two WAMAC East Division rivals split a pair of games decided by a total of five points last season with the home team winning both times.

West High vs. Bolingbrook (Illinois): The second of four games with talented out of state squads for West High comes on Saturday afternoon at Cedar Falls High School.

Player to Watch

Noah Carter, Jr., Dubuque Senior

Carter had a breakthrough season last year as a sophomore and has picked up right where he left off in two gamest this year.

A matchup problem at 6-foot-5, Carter is averaging 21.5 points and 13 rebounds and shooting 64 percent from the field while helping Dubuque Senior to back-to-back wins to open the season.

Carter averaged 18.5 points and seven rebounds per game last year and has opened the season with consecutive double-doubles.

Who’s Hot

Jocoa Kerschen, Sr., Regina

Kerschen started the season red hot, shooting 57 percent from 3-point range and averaging 20.7 points in three Regina wins last week.

The 6-foot-3 senior guard poured in a career-high 33 in a 81-52 win over West Liberty and has scored at least 14 points in three straight games to open the season.
