Wrestling Roundup: Brands Wins Title at Council Bluffs Classic

Nelson Brands was impressive on his way to the 160-pound title at the prestigious two-day Council Bluffs Classic on Saturday.
The top-ranked Brands didn’t have a match go the distance, going 6-0 with four wins and a 20-5 tech fall over Devin Roberts of Apple Valley (Minnesota) in the title match.
Brands improved to 13-0 on the season with his six wins over the weekend and helped West High to a 12th place team finish at the 39-team meet.
The top two team finishes went to Nebraska schools as Lincoln East won the title with 497.5 points and Kearney was second with 462.
Fort Dodge placed third with 455 points.
West High had four top eight finishers as Will Hoeft, Ashton Stumpf and Guy Snow all joined Brands with finishes in the top eight.
Hoeft was fourth at 182 pounds while Stumpf was seventh at 170 and Snow was sixth at 285.

City High Places Third at Title Town Duals
City High went 4-1 on its way to a third-place finish at the Go-Hawk Title Town Duals on Saturday in Waverly.
The Little Hawks went 3-1 during the pool rounds with wins over Burlington, Bettendorf and Cedar Rapids Kennedy and a loss to Kaukauna (Wisconsin).
City High defeated Cedar Rapids Prairie 37-30 in the third-place match.
Joey Harney, Kyle Hefley and Jacob Dykes all went unbeaten for City High on Saturday.
Harney was 4-0 at 138 pounds and Hefley won all five of his matches at 152.
Dykes went 5-0 with four pins while competing and both 195 and 220 pounds.

Schott Wins Title at Keith Vry Invitational
Regina senior Ryan Schott went 3-0 and won an individual title at the Keith Vry Invitational on Saturday in Parkersburg.
Schott won a pair of matches by tech fall before earning a 3-1 decision over Reymundo Vasquez of Clarion-Goldfield in the title match to win the 170-pound championship.
The title by Schott helped Regina finish 14th with 23 points.
Schott improved his season record to 10-0 with three wins on Saturday.
Clarion-Goldfield won the team with 194 points while Crestwood was second with 185.5 and Don Bosco was third with 173.

Stevens finished second at 113 pounds while Rohret fell in the 145-pound title match as Clear Creek Amana placed eighth as a team at the 12-team meet.
Grant Haman was third at 195 pounds, Tanner Cochrane was fourth at 220 and Jonah Upah was fifth at 285 for the Clippers.
Camanche won the team title with 171.5 points while Fulton was second with 159.
