Boys Basketball Roundup: Regina’s Kerschen Pours in 33 in Win Over West Liberty

Jocoa Kerschen poured in a career-high 33 points as Regina rolled past West Liberty 81-52 on Friday in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in Iowa City.
Kerschen was 6-of-10 from 3-point range on his way to his 33 points as Regina improved to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in RVC play. West Liberty dropped to 0-3 with the loss.
Even Brauns had 13 points and six rebounds while Jake Phillips added six points, six rebounds four assists and three steals in the win.
Masen Miller had eight assists for Regina which shot 58 percent from the floor.

Clipper Rally Comes up Short Against CPU
A second-half Clear Creek Amana rally came up short on Friday as the Clippers fell to Center Point-Urbana 59-53 in a WAMAC West Division matchup in Tiffin.
Clear Creek Amana used a 20-point third quarter to trim a 38-19 halftime deficit to four points but the Stormin’ Pointers made plays late to improve to 3-1.
Darius Moore had a team-high 16 points as Clear Creek Amana dropped to 0-4 and 0-2 in WAMAC West play.
Freshman TJ Bollers nearly had a triple-double finishing with 10 points, eight rebounds and nine blocks and Nolan Schwarting added 10 points for the Clippers.
Jordan Wolfe had six points.

West Branch Sets School Record for 3-Pointers in Win
West Branch drilled a school-record 14 3-pointers in an 89-27 non-conference win over Winfield-Mount Union on Friday in Winfield.
The win snapped a two-game losing skid for West Branch and improved the Bears to 2-2 on the season.
Winfield-Mount Union dropped to 1-3 with the loss.
Brady Lukavsky led four players in double figures with a game-high 20 points as West Branch shot 63 percent from the field.
Beau Cornwell had 15 points and six rebounds, Cade Aspelmeier had 13 points and Brett Schiele added 10.
Seven different Bears had a 3-pointer as West Branch broke the school record for triples in a game.
Lukavsky led the way with four 3-pointers while Aspelmeier was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and Schiele and Cornwell each had a pair of treys.
Tanner Lukavsky had four assists and four steals and Schiele had five steals in the win.
