Boys Basketball Roundup: Mount Vernon Edges Clear Creek Amana on Buzzer Beater

Mount Vernon scored on a putback off an offensive rebound at the buzzer to edge Clear Creek Amana 43-42 in a WAMAC Conference cross-divisional matchup on Friday in Mount Vernon.
The loss dropped Clear Creek Amana to 0-2 on the season while Mount Vernon improved to 1-0.
Darius Moore led Clear Creek Amana with 11 points while Tyler Schrepfer added six points.
Freshman TJ Bollers had eight points and eight rebounds for the Clippers.

West Branch Falls at Monticello
Beau Cornwell poured in a game-high 37 points but it wasn’t enough as West Branch fell to Monticello 68-58 in a River Valley Conference cross-division matchup in Monticello.
Ben Thompson added 11 points and six rebounds as West Branch dropped to 1-1 on the season and in RVC play.
The game was tied at 29 at halftime and West Branch led 46-41 after three quarters but Monticello (1-1) outscored the Bears 27-12 in the final quarter.
Cornwell grabbed seven rebounds and had three steals to go with his game-high 37 points and is averaging 32 points per game through two games.
Freshman Justin Recker had a team-high 22 to lead three Panthers in double figures.
