Parker, Robison Earn Cross Country Coach of the Year Honors

Long considered one of the top programs in Class 4A the West High girls cross country team added another to its long list of strong seasons this fall.
The Clear Creek Amana boys team continued its climb toward the top of Class 3A with the most successful season in school history.
On Thursday the coaches leading those two programs were honored for their strong seasons.
West High girls coach Mike Parker and Clear Creek Amana boys coach Ben Robison both earned at large coach of year honors by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.
Parker led West High to a fifth consecutive Mississippi Valley Conference Divisional title and a 23rd straight appearance at the state meet.
The Women of Troy finished fifth at the Class 4A state meet and had an individual place in the top 10 for the sixth straight season as senior Bailey Nock finished runner-up.
Robison directed Clear Creek Amana to the most successful season in program history.
The Clippers record the best state finish and first top-10 performance in program history, placing 10th in their second straight appearance at Class 3A state meet under Robison.
Clear Creek Amana also posted the best finish at the WAMAC Conference meet in program history and had three individuals place in the top 36 at the 3A state meet.
“2017 will go down as the most successful season in CCA history,” Clear Creek Amana coach Ben Robison said. “We accomplished a lot including the best finish at the state championships in program history.”

State coach of the year – Curt Fiedler, George-Little Rock/Central Lyon
At large coaches of the year – Mark Hostetler, Mid-Prairie; Eric Walsh, Tipton; Brock Lehman, Sioux Center; Jeff Short, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura; Darrell Paulsen, South Hamilton.
Class 3A Girls
State coach of the year – Cynthia Wagner, Dubuque Wahlert
At large coaches of the year – Doug Cutler, Pella; Christy Nimrod, Decorah; Justin Droppert, Dallas Center-Grimes; Steve Leach, North Polk; Amanda Rahmiller, Charles City.
Class 3A Boys
State coach of the year – Aaron Thomas, Gilbert
At large coaches of the year – Kory Swart, Mount Vernon-Lisbon; Matt Pries, Dallas Center-Grimes; Marty Mitchell, Carlisle; Ben Robison, Clear Creek Amana; Brad Johansen, Decorah.
