Top-Ranked West High Rolls Past Ottumwa in Regular Season Finale

In its first game as the top-ranked team in the state West High filled the role well on Friday.
Class 4A top-ranked West High jumped to a 24-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 55-7 win over Ottumwa in the regular season finale for both teams at Schafer Stadium in Ottumwa.
Evan Flitz passed for three touchdowns and ran for another as West High (9-0) completed its first unbeaten regular season since 2012.
Flitz threw a pair of touchdown passes to Traevis Buchanan and one to Dillon Doyle and became West High’s all-time career passing leader in the win.
Andre White had a pair of first-half touchdown runs as West High built a 38-0 halftime lead.
The Trojans will face Cedar Rapids Washington (5-4) in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs on Friday at 7 p.m. at Trojan Field.
