Davenport North (2-6) at City High (2-6)
Where: Bates Field, 7:15 p.m.
Last Season: City High 55, Davenport North 20
Player to Watch: Davenport North senior running back Akendre Abby (5-9, 160) ranks second in Class 4A with 1,395 rushing yards and has 14 touchdowns.
Key Stat: Abby is averaging 241 yards and 8.9 yards per carry over the last three games and has eight touchdowns during that stretch.
About the Little Hawks: City High lost its third straight game last week falling 52-0 at fourth-ranked Bettendorf.
The Little Hawks have been eliminated from playoff contention but can end the season on a high note with a home win on Friday.
Senior receiver Zach Jones has been a bright spot for the City High offense this season and needs 82 yards to become the third player in program history with 1,000 receiving yards in a season.
About the Wildcats: It has been a season of real growth for Davenport North which has multiple wins in a season for the first time in more than a decade and one of the most dynamic running backs in Class 4A.
Abby has eclipsed the 100-yard mark in seven of eight games this season to lead a Wildcat ground game that averages better than 213 yards per game.
North has been close to a full breakout season but has three losses by a combined eight points.
The Wildcats have lost four in a row, a stretch that includes a 36-33 loss to Muscatine and a 30-29 loss at Clinton last week.
4A No. 1 West High (8-0) at Ottumwa (0-8)
Where: Ottumwa, 7:15 p.m.
Last Season: West High 63, Ottumwa 14
Player to Watch: West High senior receiver Traevis Buchanan has caught 51 passes and ranks fifth in Class 4A with 790 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
Key Stat: West High is averaging 463 yards per game and has at least 425 yards of offense in five straight games.
About the Trojans: The lone remaining unbeaten team in Class 4A, West High took over the top spot in the rankings this week.
West High won its fifth straight game by at least 14 points last week with a 42-7 win over Linn-Mar.
The Trojans are holding opponents to 271 yards per game and haven’t given up more than 351 yards in a game since a week three win over Cedar Falls.
About the Bulldogs: Ottumwa has lost 18 consecutive games dating back to 2015 following a 48-0 loss to Cedar Rapids Kennedy last week.
The Bulldogs are allowing 40.3 points per game and have allowed at least 27 points in all eight games this season.
Fairfield (2-5) at 3A No. 1 Solon (8-0)
Where: Spartan Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
Last Season: Solon 54, Fairfield 14
Player to Watch: Fairfield junior running back Tristan Waugh (6-2, 240) has rushed for 805 yards and seven touchdowns.
Key Stat: The Solon has forced 26 turnovers and allowed 21 total points in eight games this season.
About the Spartans: Solon continued to roll through district play with a 42-7 win over West Burlington last week. The Spartans have scored at least 33 points in seven straight games and are averaging 44.5 points per game in six District 5 wins.
Solon has been as stingy on defense as any team in the state, allowing 2.6 points and 131 total yards per game.
The Spartans are holding opponents to 52 rushing yards per game and 2.3 yards per carry.
About the Trojans: Fairfield was shutout for the second time in three games on Friday falling 27-0 to Mount Pleasant.
The Trojans scored 56 combined points in wins over Fort Madison and Keokuk but have 43 points in their other six games.
Junior quarterback Carson Crile has passed for 899 yards and rushed for another 148 but has thrown more interceptions (12) than touchdowns (7).
1A No. 4 Regina (6-2) at Louisa-Muscatine (3-5)
Where: Letts, 7 p.m.
Last Season: Regina 43, Louisa-Muscatine 7
Player to Watch: Louisa-Muscatine sophomore quarterback Chase Kruse (5-11, 148) has passed for 1,388 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for a team-high 497 yards and 10 scores.
Key Stat: Kruse has accounted for 87 percent of the total offense for Louisa-Muscatine this season and has been a part of 20 of the Falcons’ 21 touchdowns.
About the Regals: Regina pushed its district winning streak to six in a row with a 47-21 win over Columbus last week.
The Regals have scored at least 42 points in each of their six wins and had a season-high 543 yards of total offense in last week’s win over Columbus.
Senior quarterback Michael Conlon has thrown for 1,224 yards and 11 touchdowns and Isaac Vollstedt has rushed for 752 yards and 12 scores.
About the Falcons: Louisa-Muscatine snapped a three-game losing skid with a 38-28 win at Highland last week as Kruse accounted for 358 total yards and four touchdowns.
The Falcons opened the season 2-2 with wins over Van Buren and Columbus but dropped three straight games to Wilton, Wapello and Sigourney-Keota by an average of better than 30 points per game.
Junior Cody Calvelage (5-5, 132) is the top target for Kruse with 33 receptions for 433 yards and four touchdowns while Brock Jeambey (6-3, 186) has caught 26 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns.
Clear Creek Amana (2-6) at Central DeWitt (1-7)
Where: DeWitt, 7:15 p.m.
Last Season: Clear Creek Amana 42, Central DeWitt 6
Player to Watch: Senior running back Nick Smith (5-11, 205) has rushed for a team-high 458 yards and two touchdowns.
Key Stat: Clear Creek Amana averaged 234 rushing yards per game in two wins and 70 yards on the ground in its six losses.
About the Clippers: Following back-to-back wins over Maquoketa and Center Point-Urbana the Clippers have lost three straight games by a combined score of 111-13 after a 41-7 loss to Davenport Assumption last week.
The Clippers will try to end the season on a win behind the play of senior quarterback Ethan Postler, receiver Darius Moore and running back Matt Brimeyer.
Postler has thrown for 1,408 yards and eight touchdowns with Moore catching 42 passes for 611 yards and four touchdowns.
Brimeyer has rushed for a team-high 402 yards and three scores.
About the Sabers: After six straight losses to open the season Central DeWitt picked up its first win of the season over Maquoketa in week seven before a 13-0 at Center Point-Urbana last week.
Central DeWitt allowed 45.2 points per game during its 0-6 start to the season but has held the last two teams to 19 total points.
Turnovers have been an issue for the Sabers who have committed at least one turnover in every game and are -2 in turnover margin on the season.
1A No. 6 West Branch (8-0) at Clayton Ridge (3-5)
Where: Stephen D. Shannon Athletic Complex in Guttenberg, 7:30 p.m.
Last Season: Clayton Ridge 33, West Branch 27 OT
Player to Watch: Josef Von Handorf (5-10, 170)
Key Stat: West Branch junior quarterback Beau Cornwell has thrown a touchdown pass in every game this season and has touchdown in nine of 10 career starts.
About the Bears: West Branch secured the Class 1A, District 3 title with a 30-20 win over Tipton last week and can close out its third unbeaten regular season in four years with a win on Friday.
Junior quarterback Beau Cornwell set a single-season school record for passing yards last week and has passed for 1,803 yards and 20 touchdowns with completing 66 percent of his passes.
Ben Thompson and Jacob Graves have combined for 76 receptions for 1,163 yards and 15 touchdowns.
About the Eagles: It has been a season of streaks for Clayton Ridge. The Eagles opened the season with back-to-back losses before three straight wins over Tipton, North Cedar and Jesup.
Clayton Ridge lost its third straight game on Friday with a 27-0 setback at Durant.
The Eagles are averaging 24.7 points per game during their three wins and eight points per game during their five losses.
