Liberty High will enter its first postseason meet next week with momentum after winning the first team title in program history on Thursday.

Peter Woodward led three Liberty High runners in the top nine as the Lightning cruised to the team title at the Mediapolis Cross Country Spectacular at Indian Hills Country Club in Wapello.

Woodward won the individual title in 16:47, 45 seconds faster than runner-up Levi Geyer of Iowa Mennonite as Liberty High won the team title with 39 points.

Danville/New London was second with 91 followed by West Burlington/Notre Dame with 92 and Mediapolis with 105.

Jack Kinzer finished fourth in 17:56 while Caleb Schillinger was ninth in 18:38 for Liberty High.

Mac, Logan Lead Liberty

Freshmen Camille Mac and McKenzie Logan claimed to top two spots at the Mediapolis Cross Country Spectacular at Indian Hills Country Club in Wapello to help Liberty to a third-place team finish.

Mac edged Logan by one second to win the individual title in a time of 19:39 as Liberty High finished with 63 points.

Danville/New London won the team title with 39 followed by Mediapolis and Liberty High with 63.
