Fourth-ranked Regina Rolls to District Title with 47-21 Win Over Columbus

For more than a decade the later the season goes the better Regina seems to get.
The late season dominance continued on Friday as Class 1A fourth-ranked Regina ran its winning streak to six with a 47-21 win over Columbus (2-6) at Regal Field.
Isaac Vollstedt accounted for 182 yards and three touchdowns and Michael Conlon passed for 232 yards and three touchdowns as Regina improved to 6-2 on the season and clinched the District 4 title.
Vollstedt rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and caught three passes for 99 yards and a score as Regina remained perfect in District 4 play.
The Regals have scored 42 points in all six district wins and are averaging 47 points per game during their six-game winning streak.
Jake Phillips had 96 total yards and two touchdowns while Nick Wagner and Cole White each added touchdowns for Regina.
Vollstedt put Regina up 7-0 with a 13-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and White scored on a 4-yard run to make it 14-0.
Columbus cut the lead to 14-7 when Chance Colby returned the ensuing kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown but it was all Regina the rest of the way.
The Regals closed the first half with 27 unanswered points to take a 41-7 halftime lead.
Vollstedt scored on a 59-yard screen pass from Conlon and Phillips followed with a 3-yard touchdown run.
Wagner caught an 8-yard pass from Conlon for his first touchdown of the season and Vollstedt capped the first-half scoring with his third touchdown of the game on a 3-yard run.
Phillips added a 17-yard touchdown grab in the third quarter and finished with 41 yards rushing and five receptions for 55 yards.
Conlon was 16-of-28 passing for 232 yards and also ran for 49 yards as Regina amassed 239 yards rushing and finished with 478 yards of total offense.
Nick Milder added 54 yards rushing on eight carries while Alec Wick had four catches for 35 yards for Regina.
Nick Hein led Regina with nine tackles while Milder added five solo stops.
Regina closes the regular season next Friday at Louisa-Muscatine (3-5).
