Liberty High went 4-1 on its way to a runner-up at the Davis Country Invitational on Saturday in Bloomfield.
The Lightning earned wins over WACO (21-15, 21-6), Davis County (23-21, 21-18) and Cardinal (21-15, 21-14) in pool play and defeated Lynnville-Sully (24-26, 25-18, 15-8) in the semifinals before falling to Class 1A fifth-ranked New London 25-23, 25-20 in the title match.
LeeAnn Potter led the Lightning with 64 kills and 54 digs on Saturday while Maya Kerschen added 29 kills as Liberty improved to 13-17 on the season.
Piper Koski had a team-high 100 assists and added 21 digs while Addie Schmierer had 47 digs and Samantha Sushma had 40 digs and eight ace serves.
Kaylee Berns had 21 digs and seven ace serves, Madian Elola had 10 kills and Lauren Roman had eight kills.
Clear Creek Amana Goes 3-2 at Home Tournament
Clear Creek Amana went 3-2 on Saturday to finish fourth at its own CCA Volleyball Invite in Tiffin.
North Scott went 4-1 and won the title on a tiebreaker over Iowa Valley while Clear Creek Amana moved to 19-16 on the season with their 3-2 performance.
Clear Creek Amana defeated Mid-Prairie (21-15, 21-9), Central DeWitt (21-13, 21-12) and North Scott (21-19, 22-24, 15-9) and fell to Iowa Valley (21-12, 21-15) and Union (15-21, 21-16, 15-11).
Solon Wins Consolation Title at CPU Tournament
Solon bounced back from a pair of pool play losses to top-10 teams to win the consolation bracket at the Center Point-Urbana tournament on Saturday in Center Point.
The Spartans finished 3-2 on Saturday to improve to 13-7 on the season.
Solon defeated Waterloo West (21-18, 19-21, 15-8) and fell to 4A No. 7 Center Point-Urbana (21-11, 21-19) and 5A top-ranked Cedar Falls (21-8, 21-5) in pool play.
The Spartans defeated Benton Community in the consolation semifinals and downed 2A No. 13 North Cedar in the consolation title match.
