Cross Country Roundup: Greiner, Nock Win MVC Super Meet Titles

With a field that included seven top-10 teams the team race at the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet was expected to be close, balanced and full with talented runners.
It was all of those things and more.
Class 4A sixth-ranked Dubuque Hempstead edged No. 2 West High in a tiebreaker to earn the team title on Thursday at the Dubuque Soccer Complex.
Dubuque Hempstead and West High each finished with 69 points to top a loaded field with the Mustangs taking the top spot via the sixth runner tiebreak.
4A No. 4 Dubuque Senior was third with 95 points followed by fifth-ranked Cedar Falls with 107 and No. 10 Linn-Mar with 123.
3A top-ranked Dubuque Wahlert was sixth with 140 points while 4A ninth0ranked City High was seventh with 151 points.
West High senior Bailey Nock won the individual title in 18:07.1, nearly three seconds in front of Linn-Mar freshman Micah Poellet.
Colleen Bloeser finished 14th for West High in 19:27 and freshman Kiara Malloy-Salgada, junior Deniz Ince and freshman Erica Buettner placed 17th, 18th and 19th respectively.
Aly Hecker led City High finishing 22nd in a time of 19:49.6 while Esti Brady was 29th in 20:04.7.

Greiner Wins MVC Boys Title
Kolby Greiner added a conference title to his growing list of impressive junior season accomplishments.
Greiner pulled away from a strong field at the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet on Thursday winning the individual title by 18 seconds at the Dubuque Soccer Complex.
Greiner won in a time of 15:43.7 seconds while Addison Kalb of Dubuque Hempstead was second in 16:01.7.
The title by Greiner helped West High to a sixth-place team finish with 154 points.
Class 4A fourth-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie won a tiebreaker over No. 5 Dubuque Hempstead for the team title after both teams finished with 61 points.
No. 11 Linn-Mar was third with 113 followed by No. 12 Cedar Rapids Kennedy with 118 and No. 15 Dubuque Senior with 145.
City High finished ninth with 183 points.
Ethan Goers finished 15th in a time of 16:26.2 for West High while City High was led by Caden Turnbough who finished 21st in a time of 16:35.4.

Mac and Logan Notch Top 10 Finishes
Liberty High freshman Camille Mac and McKenzie Logan continued their impressive debut season with top-10 finishes at the Central DeWitt Jim Hetrick Invitational on Thursday at Grace Camp in DeWitt.
Mac finished fourth in a time of 20:31 while Logan was seventh in 20:39 at the 14-team meet.
North Scott won the team title with 55 points followed by Muscatine with 67 and Davenport Assumption with 70.

Woodward Paces Liberty High
Peter Woodward finished eighth to lead Liberty High to a 11th place finish at the 16-team Central DeWitt Jim Hetrick Invitational on Thursday at Grace Camp in DeWitt.
Woodward placed eighth in a time of 17:16 as the Lightning finished with 255 points.
Bettendorf won the team title with 95 points followed by Davenport West with 102 and Muscatine with 110.
Jack Kinzer added a 33rd place finish for Liberty in 18:21.
