Volleyball Roundup: Regina Wins 5-set Thriller Over No. 8 Wilton

Last Thursday Regina outlasted Durant in its first five-set match of the season.
The Regals didn’t have to wait long for their second five-set thriller.
Class 2A No. 13 Regina won the final two sets to complete a come-from-behind 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 25-23, 16-14 win over No. 8 Wilton on Tuesday in a River Valley Conference South division showdown in Wilton.
Jaedynn Evans had 21 kills and 24 digs as Regina improved to 18-5 on the season and 4-1 in RVC play.
Wilton dropped to 19-4 and 3-2 in RVC action.
Alex Wiese had 15 kills and 29 digs and Alexa Lehman added 10 kills for Regina.
Ellie VanLandschoot had five kills for the Regina as the Regals ran their RVC winning streak to four straight.
Clare Dunne had 28 digs while Katrina Chambliss had 21 digs and three kills.
Emily Bonnett had 48 assists, 17 digs and two blocks while Wiese added two ace blocks and two ace serves.
Regina returns to action on Thursday at home against Bellevue.
West High Falls to Top-ranked Xavier in Five Sets
West High came up just short of an upset on Tuesday falling to Class 4A top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 12-15 in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division showdown at West High.
Class 4A eighth-ranked West High dropped to 12-7 with the loss and fell to 0-3 in MVC Mississippi Division play while Xavier improved to 17-3 and 3-1 in MVC contests.
Colby Greene had 22 kills and three blocks to lead West High while Cailyn Morgan had 14 kills and Emily Burtch had eight kills and four blocks.
Rylee Fay had 36 assists, 14 digs and four kills and Claire Overton added 11 digs and six kills for the Women of Troy.
Keimoney Lang had 21 digs and two aces in the loss.
West Branch Drops Five-Setter at North Cedar
North Cedar rallied for a 25-18, 21-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-12 win over West Branch on Tuesday in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Stanwood.
Kaiya Luneckas had 20 kills and Abbey Fryauf added 19 kills but it wasn’t enough as West Branch dropped to 5-9 on the season and 1-3 in RVC play.
Sophie Nopolous had 30 assists, 13 digs, seven kills and four ace serves for West Branch and Riley Vaughan had 24 assists, eight digs and three aces.
McKenna Walsh chipped in with six kills while Fryauf had a team-high 20 digs and Courtney Jarrett added 18 digs for the Bears.
Luneckas had 11 digs and led West Branch with four ace blocks.
Seventh-Ranked CPU Too Much for Clippers
Class 4A No. 7 Center Point-Urbana defeated Clear Creek Amanan 25-18, 25-17, 25-12 on Tuesday in Center Point.
Shauntina Williams had nine kills and four ace serves to lead the Clippers as Clear Creek Amana dropped to 6-10 on the season.
Jordan Neely led Clear Creek Amana with 16 digs while Zoe Boehme had seven assists and Cheyaenne Bunch had six assists and Alexi Kimm had five assists.
