Clear Creek Amana made a big jump on paper Tuesday, climbing three spots to No. 11 in the Class 3A cross country rankings.

Tuesday afternoon the Clippers backed up that move on the course.

Clear Creek Amana had four runners finish in the top seven and ran away with the team title at the Oskaloosa Invite.

Freshman Brandon Barker led five Clear Creek runners in the top 12 with a runner-up finish in 18:09.6 as the Clippers finished with 30 points, 22 in front of host Oskaloosa.

Nick O’Connor was third in 18:20.3 while Cole Liebe was sixth (18.29.9) and Jack Sexton was seventh (18:32.3).

Kaden McAreavy rounded out the Clear Creek Amana top five on Tuesday placing 12th in a time of 19:01.3.

Ben Lamparek of Williamsburg won the individual title in 17:58.4.

Kaylie Barker placed 11th in a time of 22:20.6 to lead the Clear Creek Amana girls team to a seventh-place finish with 192 points.

Ottumwa won the team title with 33 points, 50 in front of runner-up Williamsburg.
