Miller Throws Four Touchdown Passes as Top-Ranked Solon Rolls

In a season-opening win over Mount Vernon it was the Solon defense that stole the show.
Last week it was Hunter Kula and the Solon running game that spurred an offensive outburst in a win over rival Regina.
Friday sophomores Cam Miller and AJ Coons and the Spartan passing attack got in on the action.
Miller passed for a career-high 308 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for a score as Class 3A top-ranked Solon downed Keokuk 47-7 in the district opener for both teams at Calvert Stadium in Keokuk.
Solon improved to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in 3A, District 5 play while Keokuk dropped to 0-3 and 0-1 in district action.
Miller accounted for five first-half touchdowns helping Solon build a 41-0 halftime lead.
The sophomore quarterback connected with Coons on scoring strikes of 74 and 44 yards in the first quarter and also scored on an 11-yard run as the Spartans jumped to a 21-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game.
Miller added touchdown passes of 15 yards to Coal Flansburg and 45 yards to Jack Stahle in the second quarter and finished 12-of-17 for 308 yards and four scores.
In three career starts Miller has completed 25-of-45 passes for 498 yards and six touchdowns without an interception.
Coons finished with four receptions for 148 yards and two scores and Kula rushed for a pair of touchdowns.
The Solon defense allowed its first points of the season in the fourth quarter when Keokuk freshman quarterback Corey Skinner scored on a quarterback sneak from one yard out.
Solon returns to action next week hosting Washington.
