Ames Downs City High 56-33 in Little Cy-Hawk Game

For the third time in four years the Little Cy-Hawk Trophy will reside in Ames.
Ames outscored City High 28-8 in the second half to break open a three-point game on its way to a 56-33 win over the Little Hawks on Friday at Ames Stadium.
The win was the second straight in the series for Ames which is 3-1 against City High since the teams began meeting on the eve of the annual in-state showdown between Iowa and Iowa State.
Ames improved to 2-1 with the win while City High dropped to 1-2 with its second consecutive loss.
City High led 9-0 after one quarter but Ames roared back to take a 28-25 halftime lead it would never give up.
Malik Kimber started the scoring with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Hunger and Wilfried Kadohou added a 22-yard field goal to make it 9-0 City High after one quarter.
Ames scored 28 points in the second quarter to build a halftime lead and got a pair of touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters to secure the win.
Hunger completed 23-of-36 passing for 297 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for a team-high 74 yards and a score.
Zach Jones caught 16 passes for 232 yards and had touchdown catches of 39 and 50 yards.
Kimber added seven catches for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Junior Max DePrenger rushed for 59 yards on eight carries and Chris Jones added 46 on 10 carries.
City High returns home to face third-ranked West High (3-0) on Friday in the annual Battle for the Boot.
