Volleyball Roundup: City High Picks Up Two Top-10 Wins in Johnston; Solon Goes 1-1

City High faced three top-10 opponents on Thursday at Johnston and came away with a pair of wins.
The Little Hawks picked up wins over Class 5A ninth-ranked Des Moines Roosevelt (25-12, 25-17) and No. 10 Johnston(25-16, 23-25, 15-10) on Thursday while falling to third-ranked West Des Moines Valley (25-14, 26-24).
Mackenzie Murphy had 20 kills in the three matches while Kelsey Law had 19 and Ellie Evans added 16.
Lindsey Bolton led City High with 64 assists and had 23 digs while Law had 24 digs and Kate Swenning had 21.
City High improved to 2-2 on the season.
Solon Goes 1-1, Clear Creek 0-2 at Quadrangular
Solon went 1-1 at a quadrangular at Mount Vernon on Thursday defeating Clear Creek Amana 27-25, 25-12 and falling to Class 4A No. 8 Center Point-Urbana 25-22, 25-19.
Clear Creek Amana finished 0-2 falling to 3A No. 12 Mount Vernon 25-22, 25-17 before its loss to Solon.
Against Mount Vernon Shauntina Williams led Clear Creek Amana with six hills while Claire Schwarting added three kills.
Zoey Boehme had 11 kills while Cheyaenne Bunch had four assists and Jordan Neely had a team-high eight digs.
Schwarting led the Clippers with four kills in the loss to Solon while Williams and Karsyn Stratton each had three kills.
Boehme and Bunch each had five assists against the Spartans while Neely had 14 digs.
