Baseball Roundup: City High Rolls Past Waterloo East in Postseason Opener

Brett McCleary helped City High start the postseason with a bang on Friday.
McCleary tossed five no-hit innings as Class 4A fourth-ranked City High advanced to the Substate 4 title game with a 10-0 win over Waterloo East.
City High improved to 29-12 with the six-inning win and will host the winner of Monday’s semifinal between Pleasant Valley (21-18) and Linn-Mar (19-18) in the Substate 4 title game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Travis Reyhons had three hits and scored two runs as the Little Hawks hammered 13 hits on Friday.
McCleary, Cole Milder, Dylan Deshler and Joey Schnoebelen each had two hits for City High.
Deshler and Liam McComas each drove in two runs for City High while McCleary drove in three runs and scored a run.
McCleary struck out nine and walked three in five innings while Bryce Frantz worked a perfect sixth inning in relief.
