City High and West High displayed some of the top young talent in the Mississippi Valley Conference this season.
Both teams also relied on veteran leadership.
On Wednesday each team had seniors and youngster earn first-team honors when the MVCannounced its postseason honors.
West High senior Taleah Smith and freshman Brylee Klosterman were each named to the Mississippi Division first team while eighth-grader Ayana Lindsey and senior Ellie Grace Dixon were first-team picks for City High in the Valley Division.
Klosterman and Smith were the offensive catalysts for West High, helping the Women of Troy to a 25-16 record that included wins in 22 of their final 27 games.
Smith hit .435 with 33 runs and a team-high 42 stolen bases on her way to earn first-team all-division honors.
The centerfielder led West High with 57 hits including three triples and a home run.
Klosterman hit a team-high .452 as a freshman with 26 extra-base hits and led West High with 39 runs.
The left-handed hitting Klosterman led West High with six home runs and drove in 34 runs while posting team-bests in slugging percentage (.782) and on-base percentage (.517).
Lindsey and Dixon were each selected to the Valley Division first team after helping City High (20-21) to its best season since 2012.
The lone senior in the City High batting order, Dixon hit .320 and led the Little Hawks with 39 RBI.
Dixon scored 28 runs and had 13 doubles and four home runs while playing both shortstop and second base for City High.
Lindsey made a splash in her debut season, leading City High in runs (40), stolen bases (34), wins (11), innings pitched (133 2/3) and strikeouts (97) on her way to being named a first-team utility player.
Moving between pitcher, shortstop and center field, Lindsey hit .320 with 10 doubles and two home runs and drove in nine runs from her leadoff spot.
Eighth-grader Carey Koenig was a second-team pick for City High while classmate Ella Cook and freshman Brooke Bormann were both honorable mention honorees.
