Honoring the Top Girls Soccer Players From the Your Prep Sports Area

The individual soccer talent in the Your Prep Sports area is as good as anywhere in the state of Iowa.
With all five area teams posting winning records and two advancing to the state tournament that individual talent produced some of the top soccer teams in the state.
The first Your Prep Sports girls soccer team honors 12 of the top area players for their efforts this season and features a collection of some of the best players in the state.
This year’s 12-member team features five Division I recruit as well as all-state and all-conference honorees.
Regan Steigleder (Captain)
Sr., West High
Led Class 3A with 37 goals and added a career-high 11 assists from her midfield position while earning first team all-state honors for the third consecutive season.
Northwestern recruit finished her career with 93 goals and 28 assists while leading West High to the state semifinals each of her final three seasons.
Emma Cooper (Captain)
Sr., West High
Senior forward teamed with Steigleder to give West High the top attack duo in the state posting career-highs of 27 goals and 21 assists this season.
Michigan signee had 89 career goals and 42 career assists, scoring at least 16 goals each of the past four seasons while earning first team all-state honors three times.
Grace Brown
Sr., City High
Among the top defensive players in the state, Brown was a physical presence in a City High back line that yielded just 13 goals and posted nine shutouts.
A Nebraska recruit, Brown scored a career-high eight goals from her center back spot this season helping the Little Hawks to a 12-6 record and a regional final appearance.
Hannah Bormann
Sr., Clear Creek Amana
The dynamic Bormann leaves Clear Creek Amana as the school’s all-time leader in both goals (124) and assists (45).
A speedy forward and Drake recruit, Bormann scored 28 goals and added eight assists this season on her way to being named first team all-state for the fourth consecutive season.
Josie Durr
Sr., Solon
One of the best scorers in state history Durr ranked second in Iowa with an eye-popping 62 goals this season despite missing the final three games of the season with an injury.
An Iowa recruit, Durr set school records for goals in a game (9), season (62) and career (170) while earning first team all-state honors all four seasons.
Lauren Gaarde
Jr., Regina
In her first season as the go-to option in the Regina attack, Gaarde produced with a career-high 19 goals and six assists from her midfield position.
Gaarde scored four goals and had three assists in three regional wins to help Regina earn its sixth consecutive state tournament appearance.
Sydney Schroder
Sr., City High
A four-year starter, Schroder had the best season of her career this spring posting career-highs with 11 goals and seven assists.
Schroder led the Little Hawks in scoring and assists while earning first team all-conference honors.
Lexi Shaffer
Sr., West High
Shaffer anchored a West High defense that allowed just 13 goals and posted 11 shutouts on the season.
A second team all-state pick, Shaffer added two goals and three assists after helping West High to a 19-2 record and a spot in the Class 3A state semifinals.
Greyson Dumont
Jr., Regina
Did a little bit of everything for Regina from her midfield spot helping the Regals extend their state tournament streak to sixth.
Dumont scored four goals and had four assists and was integral in helping Regina winfour of its final six games to close the season.
Taylor Ryan
Soph., Solon
Ranked second on the team and 11th in Class 1A with 21 goals in her first season of varsity soccer.
The sophomore forward added six assists while earning second team all-conference honors.
Naomi Meurice
Soph., City High
The MVC Valley Division keeper of the year, Meurice allowed just 13 goals while making 81 saves in her second season in goal.
Meurice posted nine shutouts while helping the Little Hawks to their second consecutive 12-win season and a spot in the 3A regional finals.
Sarah Johnson
Sr., Clear Creek Amana
A four-year starter, Johnson bounced back from an injury shortened junior season to earn first team all-state honors as a senior.
Johnson made 76 saves and posted five shutouts this season while helping Clear Creek Amana to a 14-4 record.
