Approaching the halfway point of the Mississippi Valley Conference season, City High now sits alone atop the Valley Division standings.
Class 4A ninth-ranked City High ran its winning streak to six with a doubleheader sweep of Waterloo West (3-16, 0-12) on Friday at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
City High won the opener 10-4 and took the nightcap 7-1 to improve to 16-5 on the season and 10-2 in MVC play.
With Cedar Rapids Prairie falling twice to West High on Friday City High is now alone atop the Valley Division standings.
City High took care of business on Friday night, winning for the 12th time in its last 13 games.
Brett McCleary hit a 2-run home run in the first inning of the opener to give the Little Hawks a lead they would never give up.
McCleary added an RBI single in a four-run City High second inning and finished 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs in the opener.
Travis Reyhons had a two-run single as part of the four-run second inning that gave City High a 6-0 lead.
Reyhons finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and four runs scored in the opener while Zach Stone had a double and an RBI and Caleb Sass scored twice.
Roman Villhauer picked up the win allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits in five innings.
City High got four strong innings from Jim Geerdes in the nightcap to complete the sweep.
Geerdes surrendered just two hits in four innings, walking four and striking out four to pick up the win.
Sass went 3-for-4 and scored twice in game two while Cole Milder drove in a pair of runs.

West High Sweeps No. 7 Cedar Rapids Prairie in Title Game Rematch
Izaya Ono-Fullard homered in both games as Class 4A sixth-ranked West High swept No.7 Cedar Rapids Prairie in a top-10 showdown and state title game rematch on Friday in Cedar Rapids.
Ono-Fullard was 5-for-7 and drove in three runs in the double header as West High took the opener 8-1 and rallied for a 6-5 win in the nightcap.
With the sweep West High improved to 15-4 on the season and 8-4 in Mississippi Valley Conference play while Prairie dropped to 14-7 and 8-4 in MVC games.
Braden Houston tossed six scoreless innings to lead West High to a win in the opener.
Houston allowed four hits and struck out four while improving to 3-1 on the season.
Logan Sims had three hits and two twice for West High in the opener while Connor McCaffery had two hits including a double and drove in three runs.
Ono-Fullard had a solo homer as part of his two hits in game one, scoring twice and driving in a run.
The senior third baseman had three hits, including a homer and drove in two runs and scored twice in a 6-5 win in game two.
Teagen Bell added two hits and an RBI for West High while Lucas Karwall drove in a pair of runs.
West High trailed 4-1 after two innings but pulled ahead with a three-run fifth.
Ty Bop picked up the win in relief, working two scoreless innings while allowing three hits.
