City High looked every bit like a ranked team on Monday night.
In its first appearance since jumping into the Class 4A rankings at No. 9, City High swept Linn-Mar in a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader at Oak Ridge Middle School.
Ninth-ranked City High won the opener 3-0 and rallied for a 6-2 win in the nightcap to improve to 14-5 on the season and 8-2 in MVC play.
City High has won 10 of its last 11 games and kept pace with Cedar Rapids Prairie atop the MVC Valley Division standings.
Riley Regennitter tossed six shutout innings to pick up the win in the opener, allowing seven hits and walking three while striking out two.
Brett McCleary gave City High all the offense it would need with a two-run homer in the first inning.
Caleb Sass went 1-for-3 and added an RBI in the sixth inning.
City High scored in each of the final three innings of the nightcap to overcome a 2-0 deficit on its way to the sweep.
Quenton Max earned the win, working 5 2/3 innings of three-hit relief.
Joey Schnoebelen went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Sass had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs and Zach Stone was 2-for-3.
Linn-Mar dropped to 9-9 on the season and 4-6 in MVC play.

Regina Sweeps Mid-Prairie
Regina used a pair of strong pitching performances from Ryne Schooley and Ryan Schott to sweep Mid-Prairie in a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader on Monday at Regina.
Schooley tossed a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as Regina won the opener 5-0 and Schott fired 4 2/3 strong innings to lead the Regals to a 10-4 win in the nightcap.
Class 2A No. 10 Regina improved to 12-5 on the season and 7-2 in RVC play with the doubleheader sweep while Mid-Prairie dropped to 8-7 and 5-5 in RVC play.
Evan Suchomel was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the opener and Hunter Lieberman had a hit and drove in a run.
Schott was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI in the 5-0 win in game one.
Schott then picked up the win in the nightcap, allowing two unearned runs on two hits while striking out two in 4 2/3 innings for work.
Trent Hoogerwerf had three hits to lead Regina in game two hile Suchomel, Liebermann and Blake Berns all had two hits.
Liebermann had a double and drove in three runs while Masen Miller and Berns each had two RBI.
