City High split a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with Cedar Rapids Xavier on Thursday in Cedar Rapids dropping the opener 10-0 and winning the nightcap 11-8.

Ella Cook, Brianna Bentler and Brooke Bormann all homered in the nightcap as City High improved to 9-8 on the season and 9-3 in MVC play.

City High scored seven runs in the seventh inning to rally from an 8-4 deficit in game two.

West High Sweeps Doubleheader

West High got back on track with a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader sweep of Waterloo West on Thursday in Waterloo.

The Women of Troy won the opener 11-0 and took the nightcap 14-3 to improve to 5-10 on the season and 4-7 in MVC play.
