Clear Creek Amana avenged one 2-1 regular season loss in the Class 2A substate semifinals on Wednesday.
If the Clippers duplicate that feat again on Saturday they will be headed to the state tournament.
Clear Creek Amana defeated Maquoketa 3-0 in a Class 2A Substate 4 semifinal in Tiffin on Wednesday to avenge a regular season loss to the Cardinals back on May 12.
Trevor King scored two goals and Chris Malfese had one as Clear Creek Amana improved to 11-6 with its third straight win.
Clear Creek Amana will face No. 16 Marion in the Substate 4 title game on Saturday at Noon in Marion for a trip to the state tournament.
Marion defeated the Clippers 2-1 in a regular season meeting on April 25.
Malfese started the scoring off a Christian Romero assist and King made it 2-0 at halftime when he scored off a Jackson Pettinger assist.
King added a second goal after halftime again off a Romero assist.
Clear Creek Amana posted its eighth shutout of the season to close out the win.
City High Advances to Substate Final
City High ran its winning streak to nine with an 10-1 win over Western Dubuque on Wednesday in the Class 3A Substate 5 semifinals at the U of I Soccer Complex.
A 10th straight win will send the Little Hawks back to the state tournament.
Fourth-ranked City High advanced to the Substate 5 title match where it will face No. 10 Pleasant Valley on Saturday at Noon at the U of I Soccer Complex.
West High Cruises Past Mason City
West High defeated Mason City 8-1 on Wednesday at Barker Field in the Class 3A Substate 3 semifinals at Barker Field.
3A No. 14 West High will host No. 13 Waterloo West in the Substate 3 title game on Saturday at Noon.
Waterloo West advanced with a 2-1 win over No. 12 Cedar Rapids Washington on Wednesday.
The WaHawks defeated West High 3-2 in a regular season meeting in Waterloo on May 18.
