Boys Track Roundup: Luke Ira, Throwers, Lead Solon at 3A District Meet

Solon had four individuals earn automatic berths to the state track and field meet with top-two finishes as the Class 3A, District 2 meet at Thomas Park Field in Marion on Tuesday.
Luke Ira won the 110 hurdles in 14.88 to lead Solon as the Spartans finished sixth in the team standings with 77 points.
Dubuque Wahlert won the team title with 139 points, two more than runner-up Marion while Mount Vernon was third with 128.
Trevor McGill, Tyler Linderbaum and Jackson Walker all added runner-up finishes to secure spots at the state meet that opens May 18 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
McGill was second in the 400 in 53.82 while Linderbaum and Walker each finished second to Mount Vernon senior Tristan Wirfs in a throwing event.
Linderbaum was second in the shot put with a mark of 55-10 while Walker was second in the discus with a toss of 156-11.

Clear Creek Amana Finishes Sixth at Balanced 3A, District 6 Meet
Clear Creek Amana had five top-four finishes and rolled up 67 points to finish sixth at the Class 3A, District 6 meet on Thursday in Pella.
Host Pella won the team title with 137 points in a balanced field that featured five teams with at least 98 points.
Benton Community was second with 121, Williamsburg was third with 113, Grinnell was fourth with 107 and Oskaloosa was fifth with 98 points.
Nick Gerard was third in the 200 in 24.19 to pace Clear Creek Amana which got fourth-place finishes from Zach Kabbage (100), Derek Toy (400 hurdles), and its shuttle hurdle and 4×800 relay teams.
