Bormann Sets Career Scoring Record in Win
Hannah Bormann scored four goals to become the Clear Creek Amana career goal scoring in an 8-0 win over Benton Community on Tuesday in Tiffin.
The four-goal game gives Bormann 14 goals this season and 109 goals for her career.
Bormann also added an assist in the win as Class 2A Clear Creek Amana improved to 6-0 on the season.
Freshman Carson Gallagher had two goals for Clear Creek Amana while Morgan Carew and Alexi Kimm each added one.
Kaitlin Riggle had an assist and Sarah Johnson made one save while posting a shutout in goal for the Clippers.
West HighStays Perfect With Win Over Cedar Rapids Kennedy
West High continued its impressive start to the season with a 2-1 win over sixth-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy on Tuesday in Cedar Rapids.
The win was the sixth straight to open the season for West High (6-0) and fifth over a ranked opponent.
Regan Steigleder scored two goals including the game-winner in the 44th minute as West High improved to 2-0 in Mississippi Valley Conference play.
Steigleder opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a goal off an assist from Emma Cooper and Leah Rhodes.
Kennedy tied the game at 1-1 just before halftime on an Olivia Hellweg penalty kick after West High was whistled for a hand ball in the box.
Steigleder snapped the tie with a 40-yard strike in the 44th minute for her seventh goal of the season and fifth in the past two games.
City High Has Win Streak Snapped
City High had its three-match winning streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to Cedar Rapids Washington in Tuesday at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids.
Class 3A eighth-ranked City High dropped to 4-2 with the loss and 3-1 in Mississippi Valley Conference play.
Cedar Rapids Washington improved to 3-2 on the season and 3-1 in MVC play.
Sophomore goalkeeper Naomi Meurice had five saves for the Little Hawks.
