The Clear Creek Amana foursome of Drake Mougin, Nick O’Connor, Quentin Gisleson and Kaden McAreavy won the 4×800 relay to lead the Clippers at the Benton Bobcat Invite on Thursday in Van Horne.

Clear Creek Amana finished with 35 points while Vinton-Shellsburg won the team title with 135 points.

Nick O’Connor was second in the 1,600 while the Clippers finished second in the shuttle hurdle, third in 4×100 and fourth in the sprint medley relay.

Coons Leads Solon at Jesse Day Invitational

Jake Coons finished second in the 200 and Luke Ira was second in the 110 hurdles to lead Solon to a ninth-place finish at the Jesse Day Invitational at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport on Thursday.

AJ Coons finished third in the high jump and Coal Flansburg placed third in the shot put for Solon.

City High Wins Distance Medley at Hi-Covey Relays

The City High foursome of Jack Roggeveen, Rajay Rodney, Zach Jones and Jim McMillan won the distance medley relay in a time of 3:34.54 to lead City High at the Hi-Covey Relay in Ames on Thursday.

City High finished 10th at the 13-team meet with 37 points while West Des Moines Valley won the team title with 122 points.

Ames was second with 105.5 followed by Linn-Mar with 78 and Indianola with 69.

City High added a runner-up finish in the 4×800 relay and Daniel Brown placed third in the 400.

JP Rethwisch was fifth in the 800 and Matthew Dodge finished fifth in the 1,600 for City High.
