Girls Soccer Roundup: City High Wins MVC Opener, CCA Stays Unbeaten

City High didn’t wait long to get back on track.
Class 3A No. 14 City High (2-1) bounced back from its first loss on the season on Saturday with a 4-0 win over Cedar Rapids Jefferson in its Mississippi Valley Conference opener on Tuesday in Cedar Rapids.
Sydney DePrenger, Madeline Pugh, Samantha Schroder and Sydney Schroder all scored goals for City High in the win.
Grace Brown and Sydney Schroder each had assists for the Little Hawks and Naomi Meurice had a pair of saves while posting the shutout in goal.
Clear Creek Amana Remains Unbeaten
Class 2A No. 9 Clear Creek Amana continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win over 1A No. 11 Central DeWitt on Tuesday in DeWitt.
Alexi Kimm and Taylor Fuller each had goals as the Clippers improved to 4-0 on the season.
Hannah Bormann and Morgan Carew had assists for Clear Creek Amana which travels to South Tama on Thursday.
Claire Meyer had a goal for Central DeWitt (0-2).
Durr Scores Five Goals in Win over Marion
Josie Durr scored five goals and Taylor Ryan had two goals to lead Class 1A ninth-ranked Solon to an 8-3 win over 2A No. 13 Marion on Tuesday.
The win was the second straight for Solon (3-1) while Marion dropped to 0-2 with the loss.
Tara Lance added a goal for Solon and Megan Tucker had two assists while Dani Carter, Durr and Brianna Smith all had one assist.
The five goals for Durr upped her state-leading season total to 20 and marked the third time in four matches this season the senior had scored five or more goals.
