Girls Track Roundup: Welch Wins Three Events for West High

Valerie Welch won three events and finished second in another event to lead West High to a runner-up finish at the Craig Oldham Invite in Johnston on Tuesday.
Welch won the 100, 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles and finished second in the long jump to help West High finish with 156 points.
Waukee won the team title with 195 points while Johnston was third with 80 points.
Bailey Nock added a pair of first-place finishes, winning the 800 and 1,500.
Gabby Skopec won the 3,00 and Leah Dusterhoft won the discus title for West High.

Anamosa Early Bird
Freshman Karsyn Stratton had two of five runner-up finishes for Clear Creek Amana on Tuesday helping the Clippers to a fifth-place finish at the Anamosa Early Bird meet in Anamosa.
Stratton finished second in both the long jump and 200 while Kaylie Barker added a runner-up finish the 1,500 and Mariah Roller was second in the discus.
The Clear Creek Amana 4×200 relay team finished second to help the Clippers roll up 87 team points.
Monticello won the team title with 160.5 points followed by Anamosa with 116.
